Dense verdant columns
Defiant against the sun
Less sweaty than I
I grew up in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. In my painfully suburban neighborhood, there were several artificial ponds and reservoirs, each surrounded by reeds and cattails. My brain went back to growing up near those areas, and how the summers in central Ohio were so hot and humid.
I had fun watching the wildlife in those little ecosystems—and even getting to do a little suburban fishing—but overall I don't miss the place. Those plants had more backbone than middle school-aged, air-conditioning-spoiled me.
